Cub Scout leader roundtables are held the
second Thursday of each month. Den and Pack leaders join for fun
and fellowship while learning new tricks, stunts, games, crafts,
ceremonies, songs and skits related to the Cub Scout theme and Webelos
activity badges for the following month. There are also
opportunities for sharing ideas and activities with leaders from other
Packs.
The objective of Roundtables is to give
Pack Leaders program ideas; information on policy, events, and training
opportunities; and an opportunity to share experiences and enjoy fun and
fellowship with other Cub Scouting leaders.
Guide to Safe Scouting
All
volunteers participating in official Scouting activities should
become familiar with the Guide to Safe Scouting. The latest
copy of the Guide to Safe Scouting is found
here.
The purpose of the Guide to Safe
Scouting is to prepare adult leaders to conduct Scouting activities
in a safe and prudent manner. The policies and guidelines have been
established because of the real need to protect members from known
hazards that have been identified through 90-plus years of
experience. Limitations on certain activities should not be viewed
as stumbling blocks; rather, policies and guidelines are best
described as stepping-stones toward safe and enjoyable adventures.
for a PowerPoint presentation of the Guide to Safe Scouting.
This is useful when educating a group of people, leaders or your den
about safe scouting.

Wood Badge for the 21st
Century

Session 2 - May 15-17
At Scoutland
The Wood Badge Course
Wood
Badge began in 1919, when Baden-Powell took Scout
leaders to Gilwell Park for advanced leader training.
Wood Badge came to America in 1948, and has evolved
since then to become the BSA’s premier leadership
training event for adult Scouters. Wood Badge teaches
contemporary leadership skills in an outdoor setting.
Its five central themes are:
- Models for Success
- Bringing the Vision
to Life
- Leading to Make a
Difference
- Tools of the Trade
- Living the Values
Wood Badge participants can
expect to:
-
Learn leadership skills
- Have fun with
Council Volunteer and Professional Scouters
Course Information
Wood Badge is appropriate
training for all currently registered BSA adult Scouters,
regardless of program level (Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting,
Varsity Scouting, Venturing, district, and Council
Scouters) who have completed their training (Fast Start,
New Leader Essentials, and Leader Specific Training).
Wood Badge participants are expected to set a proper
Scouting example by wearing their complete BSA Field
Uniform while at Wood Badge. A Trading Post will be
available during the course that will stock drink and
snacks, along with Wood Badge memorabilia. Wood Badge
consists of 2 full 3-day weekends, both at Scoutland on
Lake Lanier.
